The Great Kapok Tree is a wonderful story that explains the importance of saving the rain forests. In this book all of the Rainforest creatures whisper in the mans ear why you would never want to live in a world without trees.

 

If I Ran the Rain Forest is one of our favorites in the Cat in The Hat’s Learning Library Series. These books are filled with tons of great information but told in a fun whimsical way.

 

National Geographic Readers: Swing Sloth This book is perfect for beginner readers. It offers real pictures of animals with picture clues. It also has a wonderful Rainforest Vocabulary which is great to talk about before and after reading.

Draw Write Now Book 7 is filled with Animals of the World and their habitats. We use these books in our homeschooling and just for fun. The kids love the whole series.

Tropical Rain Forest  One Small Square is one of our favorite Living Book Series for Science and Nature. Filled with lovely pictures and tons of great information, the children and adults agree this series is a keeper.

Nature’s Green Umbrella is an easy to read and understand book on the geography, climate and ecology of the rainforest.

“Slowly, Slowly, Slowly.” Said the Sloth We could all learn so much from a sloth if we would just slow down. A great book by Eric Carle with a great message. Another favorite Eric Carle that fits this theme is The Mixed-Up Chameleon.
