Teaching USA Geography Homeschooling Early Elementary
Geography has been a massive part of our homeschooling for the past few years. The boys became excited about learning their states, capitals, and important facts a couple of years ago, and their love for it has only grown. It’s amazing how much there is to learn about USA Geography. Not only that, but all of the amazing things to learn and explore in the world.

Hands-On Learning USA Geography
Geography is the Best!

To start our day, we put out the large U.S.A. map. We talked about places we have visited, places their friends live, and famous landmarks around the U.S. The boys use their USA and World maps every day.

The sketchbook is a huge hit. We get a USA Little Passports Edition each month, so they are always busy learning about new things, and they love it. There are numerous fun activities to enjoy.
You can see some of our hands-on geography and culture activities here.

I think hands-on learning is so important. When children can utilize all of their senses, they absorb much more and retain what they have learned. We try to incorporate hands on activities as much as we can.

When I saw this USA Landmark Toob from Safari Ltd. I knew my kids would LOVE it. I also figured it would be the perfect addition to the US geography lessons. This month I added in the wonderful state notebooking pages. These are perfect for families that have more than one child using the kit.
You can download a pack for your kids below.

The field guide that Little Passports provides is awesome. It’s packed full of lessons and activities on state learning. They can put pictures of themselves, answer questions about where they live, where they have visited, learn landmarks, state capitals, and more.

As you can see, they love our US geography with Little Passports. Traveling the world with Sam and Sophia has been wonderful. The kids look forward to it every month and ask all the time where their next adventure will be.
Pictures the Boys took with their Little Passports camera. These were taken on our beach outing five minutes from home.

I just finished reading Taking Charge of Your Child’s Education: A guide to becoming the primary influence in your child’s life, and it was awesome! I highly recommend it, whether you homeschool or not; it’s a great read.
