I’ve been so excited to make this. I just knew it would be a big hit. I mean really what kid doesn’t like pretend play that includes stretchy, squishy, sensory play with an ice cream set up?

In our house ice cream is a go to snack on a daily basis. They Love Ice Cream! Which is why I decided to go with an ice cream theme for this edible dough.

I think every kid I know loves marshmallow sweetness that they can play with. I remember when I was little I used to love to put several marshmallows in my hand and squish them with my fingers making them warm and soft before I ate them. My parents didn’t like it very much, but it was my favorite way to eat them.

Easy Edible Ice Cream Dough Recipe:

1 regular size Bag of Mini Marshmallows

2 1/2  cups of Confectioners Sugar

1/2 teaspoon of coconut oil

Optional color: I prefer to use Wilton Cake Icing Gels

  1. Melt the marshmallows and the oil in the microwave for 30-60 seconds (you can also melt them in a saucepan on the stove top if you prefer not to use a microwave)
  2. Stir – Marshmallows should be melted
  3. Add a dab of color
  4. Slowly mix in Confectioners Sugar – as it starts coming together and becomes less sticky I find it best to knead with my hands.

*When it seems soft and stretchy it is ready for play.

*Store in closed container. When we reused this I heated it up for 15 seconds in the microwave just to soften it up. It was perfect!

Side note: I would never let my kids eat this for a snack 😉 Clearly it has a high sugar content. They enjoyed a couple of nibbles and smelling it.
