One of the best things you can do for a child is read to them. Start young and raise them up to love books. So much can be learned, explored and enjoyed by reading books. The Well-Trained Mind goes into detail about how important and how far children can go just by being exposed to good books. We love to take that idea and make it go even farther by incorporating fun activities to go with great books.

Goodnight Moon Treasure Basket
She was so excited!!
After reading the story Goodnight Moon for the past few days, Bells had so much fun expanding it with this sweet treasure basket.
Treasure baskets can be such a wonderful way to stretch the story even more. The child can explore the basket on their own, use their imagination while playing, and you can even use it as fun props while you are reading. It is also great to use for language development. We love books, so anything I can add to a great book to help the kids enjoy it even more sounds perfect to me.
Interested in what was in our Goodnight Moon treasure basket? There was a telephone and a red balloon, a cow, a bear, a chair, a kitten, a little toy house, a brush, a pair of mittens, a pair of socks, the moon(ping pong ball) and a quiet old lady.

We enjoyed Rowing Goodnight Moon when we had our lovely Starry night Reading Fort.

What a fantastic idea on the treasure basket! Just did it with my 18 month old daughter, fun 🙂 I am sure we will be doing it with more books soon! Thanks for the great idea!
Have you done this with other books as well?
I’m so glad you liked it 🙂 We’ve done it with Chicka Chicka Boom Boom and Dear Zoo 🙂 We will definitely do more baskets too
I love story props!! They help to bring stories to life for children, not to mention make everything from abstract to concrete. Love this idea, now I have to go hunt for the book in the library 🙂 Shared and pinned!
Thank you 🙂 I totally agree, this is such a fun book too.
