Hands on learning is so important, especially in these early years. Working with clip cards gets the child’s mind and their fine motor skills working. Your little ones are strengthening their hand muscles and using their concentration to open and close the clothespins as well as counting each ladybug dot.

Love the fine motor skills and concentration going on here.

For fun, we painted the clothespins red using liquid glitter watercolors. After they dried I added the black dots so they were ready to go. This was a fun art activity, kids always love to paint.

If your child is just starting out counting, you will want to start with the first 3 cards (#1-3). As they get more comfortable gradually add to their pile. You can ask “how many dots does this (pointing to the card) ladybug have”, when they are familiar with the activity it will be easy for them to do on their own. Of course, if your child is already a great counter this activity is perfect for them too. I hope you enjoy these cards as much as we do.
