What is Lexercise?

Lexercise is an online platform that provides reading, spelling, and writing therapy via our structured literacy (Orton-Gillingham) curriculum and with the support of leading expert therapists.

Lexercise is a literacy program that provides interactive lessons, educational games, and activities based on the latest research in reading science. Their program is individualized, with free learning disability testing to help get your child on the right path from the start.

They offer a science-backed solution to families with struggling readers, spellers, and writers.

The Lexercise online dyslexia treatment offers a variety of options for parents and teachers to choose which treatment plan will work best. And you can learn more about these two options on the comparison page.

Lexercise Basic Therapy

Lexercise Basic Therapy gives parents control with an online dyslexia treatment program they can follow at home. It’s the most affordable way to get structured therapy online with my unique promo code of 40% off Basic Therapy will be $90/month. This is the option we chose to use.

It allows us to follow an online program with interactive lessons, activities, and games our child can use to practice literacy skills. When kids master the material in the lesson, they can move on to the next lesson in the Lexercise interactive online platform.

After the Free Learning Disability Testing, I received a great email from the therapist saying, “I noticed from your answers on the Language Processing Skills Checklist that Bladen’s listening comprehension skills are stronger than their reading and writing skills. Students with this pattern typically benefit from an approach like the Lexercise Structured Literacy Curriculum because it explains why words are pronounced and spelled as they are.

But adjusting intervention for students so that it is neither too easy nor too difficult can be a bit tricky.” She went on with some other personal information that was very informative and helpful.

Lexercise recently updated the Parent Dashboard to make it easier for parents to manage their students on the platform, track your childs progress, deliver their lessons, and contact their therapist, among other new features.

I love the parent dashboard because it’s easy for me to see how my child is doing and track their progress, deliver their lessons, and contact their therapist, among other new features. You can also access extra resources for more learning when you need them.

Other features I appreciate include accessing the program digitally so we can take our Lexercise Basic Therapy on the go. Plus, every lesson is taught by an expert therapist and pre-recorded for us to watch as many times as we need.

Elizabeth (our assigned therapist) has often contacted me with suggestions and helpful tips or to touch base about the program and Bladen’s progress and has freely shared resources and suggestions with me. We’ve incorporated several of those tools and ideas into our schooling.

Lexercise Professional Therapy

Lexercise’s online dyslexia treatment program offers a Professional Therapy option too. With this option, you get 1:1 Live video chat lessons with a certified dyslexia therapist once a week. All the lessons are customized with interactive help, games, and activities your kids will enjoy.

The Professional Therapy option costs more because you get 1:1 therapy with a professional therapist to customize your child’s lessons with ongoing support and advice. It’s a great way to address a wide range of literacy and behavior problems in your own home with a certified therapist. Plus, you’ll still get the helpful parent dashboard and feedback available with the Lexercise Basic Therapy package.

Both Lexercise Basic Therapy and Professional Therapy use the same Orton-Gillingham based curriculum proven to help kids with reading, writing, and spelling difficulties.

Both programs offer the same activities, games, and videos. The main difference is price and time.

Using the games and the wordcards were just a few of our favorite parts of the program to do together.

The games are supposed to be played for 15 minutes 4 times a week and include a variety of different skills to work on.

  • Multi-Syllable Words
  • Sound/symbol correspondence
  • Phonemic awareness
  • Sight Words
  • Word recognition
  • Vocabulary comprehension
  • Intro to Word Analysis

among lots of others…

For me as a homeschool mom, I got a lot out of the video instructions and overviews. With tips like how to have your child sound out words and work on syllables.

Ideas like where they can put their hand to get a feel for the syllables in words… The tips were quite genius. Especially if you are like me and feel like you have tried so many things over the years to get them to progress in their reading and comprehension.

Of course, it’s not required for you to watch these videos, but I did want you to know they were enjoyable and informative.

Is Lexercise Right for Your Family?

How will you know if Lexercise is right for your family? You’ll begin the journey with free disability testing and a Lexercise dyslexia screener you can use to determine what kind of therapy is best for your child. If you think your child might be struggling with dyslexia, the free disability testing from Lexercise is a good place to start.

Dyslexia is a term used to describe difficulty in learning to read or interpret words, letters, and other symbols. Dyslexia does not affect general intelligence.

There are four types of dyslexia: phonological dyslexia, rapid naming dyslexia, double deficit dyslexia, and surface dyslexia. Lexercise offers different options to make treating different types of dyslexia with online therapy available for everyone.

If you’re not sure if your child needs reading therapy, you can begin with the free disability screener.

A considerable benefit of the Lexercise therapy is that it’s all done online. You don’t have to go anywhere or worry about making a specific appointment time. I don’t know about you, but we are already a busy family, so being able to do this whenever and where we want is a huge plus!

Free Learning Disability Testing with Lexercise Dyslexia Screener

The option for free learning disability testing is one of the first things that drew us to the Lexercise program. Disability testing can be pretty expensive, so free Learning Disability Testing is a budget-friendly way for families to easily determine what kind of help your child might need.

The Lexercise Dyslexia Screener can be completed in five to ten minutes. The test uses a mix of common words and nonsense syllables to discover which children might struggle with dyslexia. For parents who need help getting a diagnosis and/or help, the Lexercise disability screener is empowering.

Parents can get an evaluation for children as young as 6 and begin getting treatment with online options rather than waiting years for a diagnosis and treatment through their local school system. If you’re not sure why your child might be struggling to read, the free disability screener is a good place to begin getting answers.

Honestly, I learned a lot about my son from the testing and was proud of how much he put into it. I highly recommend the free Learning Disability Testing. It’s only a short evaluation, and you can learn a lot from it.

After signing up for Basic Therapy, we were provided three placement testing options to help ensure our child could get the most from Lexercise.

These free Lexercise disability tests help make sure he’s starting where he needs to with his therapy and that all his needs are addressed without extra cost. As a mom, this tactic helped me to feel that Lexercise is working to ensure our child truly gets the help he needs regardless of our budget.

Lexercise Online Dyslexia Treatment Options

Lexercise offers online dyslexia treatment options that can be used by children who are homeschooled and those in school settings. This online therapy program can be used at home with parents, in a clinical setting by therapists, or by teachers in the classroom. Since Lexercise offers both Basic Therapy and Professional 1:1 therapy options, there’s sure to be a treatment option that meets your needs.

The online Basic Therapy option currently works best for our family.

How Does Lexercise Basic Therapy Work?

We have come to appreciate the approach to Basic Therapy. There is a weekly lesson for our child to focus on and 4 daily practices to help him master the material in each lesson. I also really appreciate the optional parent training.

Parent training helps prepare me to lead the weekly lesson with confidence. Then, I can deliver the lesson and help our child to understand all the new material right at home. This makes it comfortable for our child too.

Once I’ve taught the lesson, he can practice the material with fifteen minutes of games. You aren’t required to teach the lessons; the interactive online lessons are great! And the games make practicing challenging concepts fun, and they’re easy for our child to do independently. When we have time, there are shared activities we can do together for even more practice and learning.

After we’ve mastered the lesson and practiced for four days, the next lesson is unlocked. This method of teaching, followed by fun practice, works well for our family and makes it easy for us to move through the concepts quickly.

What’s the Difference Between Lexercise Basic Therapy and Professional Therapy?

We didn’t opt to use Lexercise’s Professional Therapy option. Both options use the Orton-Gillingham structured curriculum. They both include the same parent activities, games, and videos. However, there are some differences.

The Professional Therapy option utilizes a trained therapist to deliver the lessons rather than having them be parent-led. If you aren’t feeling confident about delivering the lessons yourself or if you feel your child would benefit more from the therapist, you might want to consider Lexercise’s Professional Therapy option.

The main differences between the two programs are price and time. The Professional Therapy option costs more because you are paying for the professional therapist to customize your child’s lessons and practice. Additionally, they provide you with ongoing support and advice.

If you do choose the Basic Therapy option, you’ll still receive support and advice. You can message your therapist with questions and purchase a 45-minute session if you come to a section you need extra help with during your Basic Therapy.

These therapists are experts who do this for a living. They must charge for their time and expertise, making this therapy option more costly for parents. However, having the support of a therapist can speed up the process, with most children being remediated in a matter of months.

However, not all families have the budget to work with a professional. Another consideration is how well your child does with new teachers. If your child may not be willing to work with another as well as he or she does with you, Basic Therapy might make more sense.

The Basic Therapy option is the most affordable way to get research-backed structured therapy for your child.

I hope this review of Lexercise disability therapy options has helped you to understand what’s available to help you and your child as you navigate reading challenges.

If you’re new to Lexercise or have questions about it, please don’t hesitate to share in the comments. I’d love to read about your journey, talk more about ours, and help in any way I can.
