Montessori Math with Pumpkins and Acorns (Free Printables)
As the crisp autumn air settles in and leaves turn beautiful shades of red and gold, fall offers the perfect opportunity to bring seasonal joy into the home and classroom. Using natural, hands-on materials like pumpkins and acorns, Montessori math lessons can become both engaging and meaningful for young learners.
These familiar fall treasures invite children to explore counting, sorting, patterns, and basic operations in a tactile, sensory-rich way. By connecting math concepts to the beauty of the season, we can spark curiosity, encourage independent learning, and bring abstract ideas to life right at the worktable.

12 Months of Montessori Learning
Maria Montessori believed that in order to understand mathematics, education needs to connect the hand and the mind.

The fall is an ideal time to take your learning outside. You can incorporate acorns, leaves, pinecones, rocks, or anything else you find. By combining a love for indoor and outdoor learning this will start to come naturally for you. If it doesn’t already.
Start collecting natural materials while you are on a nature walk. They are perfect for use in a nature table, as math manipulatives, and, of course, as loose parts.

You can download this free pumpkin printable below. Make sure you click over to our apple counters too. It’s always fun to switch up materials occasionally, and they are free. Yay!!

If you are anything like me, you appreciate having books and materials at home ready.
