Easy Montessori Sensory Activities – Nature Walk Activities (Free Printables)
We are back for our 12 months of Montessori learning and this month it’s all about Sensorial. In the beginning, I wasn’t sure what I was going to share, but I am so glad I took some time to observe what was going on around us. These Montessori Sensory Activities are some of our favorites right now and I hope you love them as much as we do.

12 Months of Montessori Learning (Sensorial)
Did you know that Maria Montessori believed you can train your senses? That’s right! We hear better with greater acuteness when we can notice lighter sounds around us.
Assisting the natural development of the child is a wonderful thing.
The goal is for the child to be able to put the pairs together from strongest sound to weakest. (loudest-quietest).
The sense of hearing relates us to our environment in a special way. We develop acuity in hearing by learning to recognize the smallest amount of stimuli. (The Discovery of the Child pg. 167)
Putting the blocks together that sound the same.
Self-correcting (checking herself) and she was right 🙂
I love that these Sound boxes have the self-check. Perfect for any Montessori home or school! I highly recommend reading Maria Montessori The Discovery of the Child. It will give you a wonderful understanding of how and why Montessori sensory activities are so important.
A few wonderful listening materials/activities to have The Guidecraft Sound Boxes or the Sound Cylinders. The Listening Walk book, music boxes, and Musical Hand Bells are also amazing.
The Listening Walk – Nature Walk Activities
This was such a wonderful experience. Just being out in nature in a peaceful way and enjoying the sounds and life around us. I hope you can take a listening walk of your own today.
The most important thing you can do for your children is to let them run free in nature (with supervision of course). Let them explore nature, the flowers, birds, feel the grass and sand under their feet, and the wind on their faces.
Finding her pictures to match the sound she hears.
Bells found the bird and hears the birds chirping.
We can hear the running water, boats, and more. This was a wonderful listening walk and I can’t wait to do it again.
Enjoy your own listening walk with the kids today. Getting out and enjoying nature is the best!
