We love learning about animals. In fact, I think most kids enjoy learning about animals, especially when you start bringing in hands-on activities and great animal books. This Science for Kids Animal Sort Activity and Printable pack is fantastic. Teach your children what different types of animals eat and what it is called with this Montessori inspired activity.

For The Best Kids Activities
Science for Kids Animal Sort Activity Printables
This Science idea is the perfect animal activity to add to your themed learning.
It is always better to include hands on activities when you are teaching or sharing Science with kids.
Use the vocabulary cards to explain what each word means. Add a bowl or basket of animals (we use the Safari Toob animals for activities) and sort and classify each animal into omnivore, herbivore or carnivore.
If you want to expand on this activity, even more, you can have samples of the types of food for the children to touch, taste and see.
We used real pictures for the printables making them easier to work with, and we believe it is good for children to see real animals while learning.
Questions to expand on the activity:
Ask the children what they ate today?
Ask which group they would be in?
What category their favorite animal would be in?
Sorting and Classify Animals by Omnivore, Herbivore, and Carnivore can be a lot of fun.
This animal sort activity is perfect for young learners and can encourage imaginative play as well. Enjoy!
A few books that we love for expanding these activities and learning more about animals are:
Dragons and Marshmallows Plus all of the Zoey and Sassafras Series
