The 7 Habits of Happy, Healthy Moms
Play: Be in the moment, enjoy your kids, listen to their laughter and soak it all in. Spending time laughing and playing with your children is a natural stimulation that will keep you feeling young and happy. Your kids will love it too.
Plan your meals: I love meal planning now. I know when I don’t plan my meals, I just randomly pick things up and never have the healthy choices that my family needs. So every Saturday I plan our meals for the week. As a busy mom, it is often hard to find the time to make a healthy meal, but if you are a mom with a plan great things get done.
Enjoy the outdoors: This is the perfect time to spend time outside. Take your kids for a walk, hike or bike ride. You can go swimming, explore your neighborhood, a nearby park, or anything else that gets you outside in the fresh spring air and keeps you moving. Fresh air and sunlight work wonders for your mood. Beach body here we come…
Spend time by yourself: Have a cup of tea/coffee, thinking, reading, yoga, meditation, practice mindfulness. A little R & R is so important. Even if it’s 10 minutes a day, having quiet time to just breath can refresh your mind. This time will also help relieve stress.
Eating Reduced-Calorie Healthy Whole Food: Choosing healthy, reduced-calorie, low-fat food makes your weight loss journey more successful. And if you’re looking for just some extra help with making your weight loss efforts go further, alli® weight loss aid is a great resource that can be used throughout your weight loss journey of eating healthy and making good choices for adults 18 and older! alli® is the only FDA approved over-the-counter weight loss aid on the market and has delicious low calorie and reduced fat recipes on its website, www.myalli.com*.
Be You: That’s right… be yourself and love it. Remember that fun loving person your husband fell in love with. You’re still the same person only better 😉 Don’t compare yourself or what you have with others. Just try to be the best You that You can be.
Sleep: Pick an earlier bedtime for yourself and try to stick to it. You’ll feel better and have so much more energy. Getting good sleep is a huge part of living a healthy lifestyle.

My tip is to walk whenever you can. Park your car far from the door, Take the stairs instead of the elevator. I even walk on my lunch hour at work. It has really helped a lot.
My easiest tip that I can think that will keep anyone happy and healthy is to take your vitamins early in the morning every day.

Drink more water instead of soda and always eat a vegetable with every meal.
I find it’s much easier to be happy when I can avoid interacting with “energy vampires”: those people who either are always complaining or who want to constantly tell you their troubles over and over which makes them feel better but you feel worse.
And at least a few nights a week I try to fit in time for a glass of wine and a good book. Me time!

The #1 thing that I try to do is live for myself and not for others. That sounds selfish but it really isn’t. If you are living for yourself, you are free to be there for other people more openly because you are not worried about what they think of your hair or your body or whatever.

Don’t put certain foods on a “forbidden” list. Just the idea that you can’t have something makes it more desirable. Instead, allow yourself to have a reduced portion. If necessary you can adjust the rest of the meals for the day to accommodate the treat.

I use my fitbit every day to make sure I’m moving enough. I find that building in extra steps throughout my day (parking further away from work, walking to the store or library, etc.) is key to me meeting my goals.
I stay happy and healthy by spending a lot of time outdoors – grilling healthy foods, walking, working in my yard.

Planning ahead is a great stress reliever for me and frees me up to play with my kids. Also, getting plenty of sleep by going to bed early makes a difference in my energy level and mood. I love to play outdoors with my kids.
Look for the good. Don’t focus on the bad, especially when dealing with people. Your family will probably annoy you with their quirks; focus on their good qualities.

I feel that finding balance is very important and its different for everybody. Work schedules and kids activities can dictate your lifestyle. I’ve found that getting up before everyone else and fitting in my run is the best for everybody. Getting in my exercise can change my whole outlook on the day, it clears my mind. I call it my anti-depressant. I also plan meals ahead of time, normally on Sunday for the whole week. You’re right, the meals tend to be healthier when I pre-plan!

Lots of walking, fresh air, good healthy food, fun, will help to keep me happy and healthy.
Back when I was younger I never really needed to worry about getting enough sleep. Though I probably should have. Lots of late nights, sometimes partying, sometimes work. But I could always handle it.
Nowadays, age seems to be catching up. And making sure that I get enough sleep is one of the things that’s essential. Otherwise, I get cranky and aren’t really prodcutive that day.
Love that you’ve got the things that make you happy pat down!
