The Good and The Beautiful Language Arts & Literature Course
I am so thankful for The Good and The Beautiful for supplying us with this wonderful curriculum to review. Of course, I am sharing my own honest opinions and experiences with you.
How The Good and The Beautiful Curriculum Got Started
Jenny Phillips started out as a Christian songwriter and music producer; she has shared her love for music all across the world. She also has always had a love for literature, and in college, she majored in English. Jenny went on to write three best-selling books, and when her children became school age, she knew homeschooling was right for her family.
With a passion for education, Jenny set out to write a faith-based, high academic education focused on building character. That is how The Good and the Beautiful Language Arts & Literature came to be.
I can relate to Jenny’s feelings when I think back to when we started our homeschool journey. You want to read clean stories that are age appropriate and offer your children value. The Good and the Beautiful Language Arts & Literature courses connect learning to family, God, high moral character, wholesome literature, and the wonders and beauty of nature and human life.
We Love That!
Prepping and Planning Your Curriculum
I took about 30 minutes to go through our Level K and Level K Primer courses when the box arrived. That’s all it took to cut out the Phonics cards and readers, plus, read through the Level K at a Glance and About the Course section.
There is no daily prep time. You just open the book and follow the instructions, learning and exploring along with your child.
One of the biggest things to love about this homeschool program is the course is fully complete and requires no supplementing. It combines multiple subjects, connecting learning, adding meaning, shortening your schooling time, making learning much more enjoyable, and eliminating the need for 6 or 7 different courses.
Grammar & Punctuation all in one course!
We love how easy it is each day to pull out our box of materials, open the book to the next lesson and complete it together. Checking off our completed box at the top of each page (the kids love that part). In our house, after each lesson is completed the kids get a sticker to wear on their shirt. It’s a big deal to them, and I love seeing how proud they are of themselves.
Do you have any fun things you do to keep your kids excited for schooling? I’d love to hear about it in the comments below.
With each Language Arts and Literature Course, you get a reading book that your child will be reading from. Literature of the highest literary and moral merit is emphasized in this curriculum. The kids and I love the sweet pictures and stories we are reading each day. The Good and The Beautiful Homeschool Curriculum is non-denominational Christian worldview which we love.
The Good and The Beautiful Language Arts is a phonics based program. This program is perfect for creating strong readers and excellent writers! It does go a little fast and is not really on an exact grade level, so I would recommend going through the assessment with your child and don’t worry about what level they place in. As a long time homeschooler, I never worry about what grade level my kids are supposedly in; it’s all about creating a love for learning and watching them excel each year.
This curriculum is about mastering important skills that will benefit them as they grow up.
