Halloween Sensory Bin for Preschoolers
Sensory play is one of the most powerful tools for early childhood development, and what better way to embrace the spooky season than with a Halloween-themed sensory bin? These hands-on, tactile experiences invite preschoolers to explore textures, colors, and objects while sparking their imagination through spooky or non-spooky Halloween Items.
Not only do sensory bins provide a calming, screen-free activity that keeps little hands busy, but they also support critical developmental skills like fine motor coordination, language development, and cognitive growth, all disguised as playful, seasonal fun.
Whether you’re a parent looking for a simple weekend project or a teacher planning classroom centers, a Halloween sensory bin is an easy, affordable, and endlessly customizable activity that brings the magic of the holiday right into your child’s hands.
Halloween Sensory Play
What you will need to make your Halloween Sensory Bin is in the picture below. However, I have it displayed in list form to print out towards the bottom of the page. Have Fun!
Start by putting half the rice in one zipper seal bag and the pasta in the other. To the rice bag, add 12-15 drops orange coloring and about 2 tablespoons of vinegar. Shake for 1-2 minutes.
To the pasta bag, add 12-15 drops of black coloring and about 2 tablespoons of vinegar. Shake for 1-2 minutes. Repeat this step again if the pasta is not dark enough.
Pour each bag out onto a parchment lined baking sheet, and repeat step 2 using the other half of the rice. Let these dry for a few hours or overnight.
When dry, pour the rice and pasta (Bats) into the cauldron, add the small toys, and mix all together.
