Summer is here, and as much as we love going to the beach, some days we just can’t get there. So I vowed to have fun activities ready to keep the kids creating things and using their imagination. They love drawing with sidewalk chalk, so this year we made our own. The kids have had so much fun playing hopscotch, writing fun phrases around the driveway, and making inspirational pictures. How to Make DIY Sidewalk Chalk Kids Will Love
DIY Sidewalk Chalk
What you will need to make homemade sidewalk chalk is in the picture below. I have what’s needed with the full recipe displayed in list form toward the bottom of the page. Have fun!

Pour 1/3 cup water at a cool temperature of approx. 40-50 degrees into each plastic cup. Stir about 3-4 Tbsp. of a different color paint into each cup of water.
Mix 2/3 cup Plaster of Paris into each cup. You can find Plaster of Paris at any craft store or order from Amazon. The consistency will be similar to runny yogurt.
Pour these cups of homemade chalk paint into the silicone mold and tap it gently on the counter to remove air bubbles.
Let them set up for 24 hours. Setting them in the sun will lesson the time.
Pop the chalk out of the molds and make sure they feel dry all over before you use them.

What’s Needed
- 1 Container Plaster of Paris
- Washable Tempera Paint, multi-colors
- Plastic Spoons
- Plastic Cups
- Silicone Mold of your choice
Directions
1. Into each plastic cup, pour 1/3 cup water at a cool temperature of approx. 40-50 degrees.
2. Stir about 3-4 Tbsp. of a different color paint into each cup of water.
3. Mix 2/3 cup Plaster of Paris into each cup. The consistency will be similar to runny yogurt.

6. Pop the chalk out of the molds and make sure they feel dry all over.
You are ready to start coloring your favorite pictures on the sidewalk.
