What you will need to make your Dr. Seuss Cat in the Hat Craft is in this picture below. However, I have it displayed in a recipe list form to print out towards the bottom of the page. Have Fun!
How to Make a Dr. Seuss Party Hat Craft
Gather up these supplies to get started:
- White masking tape or duct tape
- Red party cups
- White dessert plates
- Elastic cording
- Scissors
- Hole puncher
- Pencil
Have I mentioned that this craft is simple and fun to make?!
Dr. Seuss Solo Cup Hat Craft
To get started, trace the opening of the party cup onto the top-center of a dessert paper plate.
Once you have that done, simply cut the circle slightly smaller than the traced circle. (see picture below for example)
This next step offers a couple of options on how to do it. Just choose which one based on the age of your child.
For smaller children, punch a hole on each side of the inner circle for the elastic cording.
For older children, punch the holes on the outer rim of the plate. Attach a length of elastic cording to the plate.
Next, wrap the cup with two lines of tape. This is creating the “hat” look of The Cat and the Hat.
Isn’t this super easy so far? And you’re almost done!
Lastly, take and place the plate over the cup and secure it with tape on the underside of the plate. (I use about 4-5 pieces to keep it secure. Don’t take the chance of it breaking!)
