Making gingerbread men with my kids is one of my favorite holiday baking traditions. We love getting creative with gingerbread decorations and gingerbread activities. The kids are always thinking of new ways to personalize their very own gingerbread man cookies and gingerbread houses.

Baking Gingerbread Men with Kids

Did you know gingerbread men were first created by Queen Elizabeth I in the 16th century? She had the gingerbread figures created and decorated to look like her courtiers. Then, she gave the gingerbread men as Christmas gifts to the people of her court.

Of all the fun gingerbread man activities you can share with your kids this holiday season, you definitely don’t want to forget to make your very own cookies! These yummy homemade White Chocolate Dipped Gingerbread Cookies are so delicious! I just know these cookies are going to be a favorite at your house this holiday season.

You can use this cookie recipe with some gingerbread man shaped cookie cutters to create your very own gingerbread men to decorate. We like to use food coloring to create lost of different colors for our icing, that way the kids can “dress” their gingerbread men any way they choose. Another fun tip is to get creative with embellishments.

A wide variety of sprinkles and tiny candies for decorating adds a whole lot of fun to making gingerbread cookies.
