Montessori Inspired Gingerbread Baby Activities
This holiday season I have put together several fun, and educational Montessori inspired activities for the kids. The Gingerbread Baby by Jan Brett is a classic in our house and one that my children enjoy. I knew that it was one of the books we would explore together and make memories that will last a lifetime. My goal this season is to share easy activities so that you can make your holiday memories.
Montessori Inspired Holiday Activities
A few things that you will need for this activity are The book Gingerbread Baby by Jan Brett, Safari Farm Toob Animals (I added the cat, dog, and fox from our animal collection), but you could check out the Schleich fox/animals (we love them too). If you have a gingerbread stuffed animal or toy add that in for extra fun. You will also want to download the free lapbook printables from Homeschool Creations. I cut and laminated the animal cards for easy matching. This made for a perfect toddler activity.
We read the book together first and pointed out all of the animals. Bells loves animals. Next, it was her turn to match the animals with the correct animal card.
She showed her Gingerbread baby all of the animals while she was matching.
Depending on the child’s age and ability/interest you can also add in naming the animals and their sounds.
This was such a wonderful Montessori inspired activity. Easy to put together and a great extension to a classic holiday story.
To add to this beautiful book, you can make gingerbread cookies and gingerbread houses. We make gingerbread houses every year as a family; it is a fun tradition.
Painting Gingerbread houses like we did here is always fun.
