First, you’ll need a basket. There are lots of different options, so you’re sure to find one that fits your child and your budget too. I really like choosing “baskets” that we can reuse in other ways throughout the year. For example, check out my LEGO storage brick baskets.

If your girl is in love with horses, this will make a super cute basket for your Easter surprises this year. It’s got lots of room to fill with goodies. Plus, it doubles as a super cute horse trailer she can enjoy all year long.
This cute horse is big enough for all her dolls and it makes a big statement for Easter too! This awesome horse toy will get lots of love from your horse fan all year round, so it’s sure to last longer than any chocolate bunny. She plays with her Breyer horses all of the time and there are so many cute ones to choose from.
I add these eggs to my Easter basket every year. They’re the perfect consumable to give just in time for Spring and Summer. This colorful sidewalks chalk looks just like an Easter egg. Since it’s a fun treat, you don’t have to worry about filling any plastic eggs with candy.
I used two sets of these wooden fences to set up my Easter basket horse themed gift. They create the perfect little “pasture” right in your living room. Plus, they can easily be disassembled and reassembled in the playroom later.
These lovely fences will be just right for pretend play with your kids all year long. They’re so versatile, you can use them for horses and farm animals too.
This was such a fun item to include in this themed Easter basket this year. A cute bounceable sensory ball is always a great gift for kids of any age. With the textures and lights on this ball, it’s a great sensory item for kids to enjoy all year.
Including small balls in your Easter basket helps fill the basket with fun items that won’t go out of style and aren’t filled with junk food either. It’s a win win!
We just love these books! The adventures of Zoey and her pet cat Sassafras are filled with science, mystery, and adventure. They’re perfect for inspiring early readers to explore and be curious. Plus, they expose girls to STEM skills and strong female characters at an early age.
Since we really love these books, I wanted to include them in this Easter basket horse themed gift idea. For the record, we included lots of horse-themed books as well.
Tell me about your favorite horse books in the comments, so we can check those out too.
Made Good bars are delicious and filled with healthy real food ingredients, not just sugar and corn syrup. If you’re looking for a healthy treat to include in your Easter basket horse themed gift this year, these are just perfect. Also, the cute Easter themed mini bars pack well in plastic eggs.
Full disclosure: I didn’t shred my own tissue paper for this horse themed Easter basket gift. Instead, I purchased this festive tissue paper filler online. It’s super cute and worked well for creating “hay” in our living room.
These sparkly plastic eggs were so fun to hide around the house! They really made each and every Easter treat a little extra special for our children.
A giant pencil is just one novelty item I couldn’t resist. It’s still functional and the kids get super excited about using them to complete assignments throughout the week. If giant pencils can make long division more fun, I’m happy to stash a few in the Easter basket gifts.

Assembling A Horse Themed Easter Basket
This horse themed Easter basket was a lot of fun to set up. First, I set up the wooden fences (mentioned above) around the area where I wanted the “basket”. Then, I decided I really wanted to give the appearance of real hay.
To achieve the look of real hay, I shredded tissue gift paper around the horse gift. The cute Horse was the star of the show after all. I used white tissue paper with gold flecks to make it fun and festive.
Next, I spread extra fun Easter gifts all around the horse. There were lots of small accessories included in the horse and horse trailer packaging. They made great additions to the Easter basket display.
I filled lots of small Easter eggs with the rest of the Easter goodies. I just know my daughter will have so much fun searching for them around the house this year.
Easter Basket for your Horse Lover
For even more Easter fun, we added a few extra horse themed gifts too: a new riding outfit, new riding socks, a chocolate horse (ok, so I did add this one super cute chocolate treat), a Breyer pony stuffed animal, and some horse activity books to read together.
That’s everything I included in our horse themed Easter basket. I tried to avoid junk food and lots of candy, instead, I added some of our favorite healthy treats and consumables like chalk eggs, pop-its, and art supplies.
