DIY Bird Feeder for Kids
Let’s get started!
Start by having the supplies ready to go. Next, have your child fill each space with bird seed.
Kid Made bird feeders are great for talking about measurements, practicing pouring, concentration, hand-eye coordination, working fine motor skills, and so much more. All of that and you get your children outside enjoying nature. It’s the best!
When the egg carton is full, have your child punch a couple of holes into each side. Then they can push the twine or string through each hole. Finish it up by helping your child hang their homemade bird feeder on a tree where your whole family can enjoy bird watching.

1 egg carton (made from paper/recycled materials, not plastic)
1 cup of Bird Seed
Twine or String
1. Start by having the supplies ready to go.
2. Have your child fill each space with bird seed.
3. when the egg carton is filled have your child punch a couple of holes into each side.
4. Push your twine or string through each hole.
5. Hang outside on a tree for your backyard birds to enjoy
Optional: We found from making these recycled bird feeders several times gluing the top piece onto the bottom of the carton made it sturdier and lasted longer.
