This is always a fun time of year. Everyone is still enjoying the fun days of summer, but we are all gearing up for a new school year. I also love getting to check out homeschool rooms and learning what works and what doesn’t for others. Today 12 months of Montessori is back with a peek inside our homeschool room.
Homeschool Room

Montessori & Waldorf Inspired Homeschool Room
I love our homeschool room! It is a place in our house where everyone seems to enjoy spending time in.
This is our natural dramatic play area – Kitchen area and Dress up/Doll Play. I added in a little Montessori practical life with the clothes hanging. The kids love this space! The furniture is from Elves & Angels and we couldn’t be happier with it! Elves & Angels is wonderful! Our Waldorf dolls and dolly dresses are from Dragonfly’s Hollow.
Most of our Lovely kitchen accessories are from Simple Gifts Toys. My wish list keeps growing from her store because everything is so amazing. We also love the Plan Toys food sets.
I love the little things that make up this room.
Right now we are using this huge magnet board which I thought was a really cool idea, but to be honest my kids hardly ever use it. If you do a lot with magnets it’s great! I am switching it out for a chalkboard in the next month. I do love the large clips I found at Michael’s. They are perfect for hanging our artwork. The animal alphabet you see on the door is Little B’s favorite. It is from 1+1+1=1. I moved it higher because Bells was constantly pulling them off. I’ll be moving them back down soon. It’s great to have everything at your child’s eye level.
We love these Eeboo bird cards and they fit in perfectly with our room. We have a lot of Eeboo products incorporated in our homeschooling. For example the storytelling cards, alphabet wall cards, games, and nature journals.
This is a picture of the right side of the room as you are walking in. We don’t have a lot of wall space, but I’ll take the windows and natural light over walls any day.
This summer the kids have been really interested in animals and their love for birds has been around for years. So our Science area reflects their interests.

Click over here to see the kids favorite area this summer. The Ocean themed Science, Sensory, Nature Table. I have to say I love it too.

I love signs and quotes they are everywhere in our house 🙂 This is the center bookshelf. Most of our puzzles were being used that day that’s why they aren’t in the picture. Bells loves puzzles right now.
On our table right now… We have the cursive movable alphabet and these great lined boards.
This is what it looks like on the left side of the room.
Math and number area (Free Apple printables can be found here)
This is our Language shelf. Right now we have our Montessori phonetic reading blocks, Sandpaper letters, Montessori Letter Workbook, a work mat, and The Royal Road to Reading activity. Our shelves are changed every few weeks to go along with a theme or child’s interest.
Natural Waldorf Inspired Toys are perfect for open-ended play.
Dollhouse play with baskets of wood blocks underneath.
We love playing with Animals and the sweet Wildflower Toys dolls and fairies!
This corner is still a work in progress, BUT I’m super excited about our new rain gutter bookshelves. They are AWESOME!!! If you are interested in some of our FAVORITE books click here.
Homeschool Room Tour

I hope you enjoyed a look inside our homeschool room. If you have any questions please feel free to message me or leave a comment below.
A few tips for you to think about if you are setting up a homeschool room:
- The colors of the room make a difference. A lot of bold colors might make it harder to concentrate.
- Make sure everything is safe for children to explore and work in.
- Does the space flow and accommodate the children’s needs.
- Try to limit what you put out and switch things throughout the year going with your child’s interests.
- Ask yourself if the room is provocative and suggestive without limiting engagement?
- How the materials present should encourage learning.
- Ask yourself if this is a place that you would love to spend time in.
I hope you enjoyed the tour 🙂

5 Ways to Have a Peaceful Homeschool Room

I was wondering where you got your white bookshelves? They are perfect!
Thank you so much 🙂 They are from Pottery Barn Kids. They are wonderful! We have had them for 10 years and they still look great.
What an amazing space – I want to learn and play there too!
Where did you get the foldable tent furniture?
I’m not sure what you’re referring to?
I am drooling as I’m looking at your room! It’s so gorgeous! Looking into several of the links you shared too. Thank you for sharing. I am inspired!
Thank you for your kind words 🙂
Whenever I see play silks and Elves & Angels play sets, I always think of your kid’s homeschool space 🙂 I adore your space!
Thank you so much 🙂
Such a gorgeous, awe-inspiring space! One of my requirements for our next home is lots of big windows – even if that’s a poor financial decision living in Canada, lol.
I love all of the sweet bits of wonder and strewing that exist in your space – truly a wonderful space for the children to explore!
Thank you so much Jennifer 🙂 That means a lot.
What a perfect blend of Waldorf and Montessori! The wooden details are to die for!
We are such huge fans of Plan toys as well! I love all the wooden imaginary toys you have around your room. I always smile when I see your shelves, table and chairs, knowing exactly where you purchased them. Lol. Where did you get your magnetic board. Princess LOVES putting papers and things on her walls. I keep thinking a magnetic board would be perfect and safe for her to use in her room. She loves arranging her papers and tries to hang them anywhere she can.
We have similar taste Renae I love it! The Magnet board is actually a large oil drip pan from Walmart 😉 Total cool Hack. Cost $10.
What a beautiful and calming space! I love all the windows.
Thank you so much. I agree the windows are the best!!!
This is a lovely space full of wonder and imagination! I love how you mix Montessori with Waldorf. It’s magical!
Thank you so much
Ooh! I have to admit that while I love your space and how you set it up, my favourite part of the room is/are the large windows 🙂 We’re still working on construction at our house so we are working in a temporary space but once we move, I can’t wait to set up our homeschool area in our living room/dining room space – big windows with lots of light and a countryside view 🙂 Thank you for the inspiration! Pinned!
Thank you so much 🙂 The windows are my favorite too.
Where is a good place to get a wooden table and chairs like you have? Thanks! What age kids are these chairs good for?
We have 2 sets of table and chairs and they are both from Pottery Barn Kids. We love them because they are sturdy and have last for years.
