We love nature studies at our house. We have really been getting into tracking animal prints and listening for bird calls. The boys love to see birds and then try to figure out what kind of bird it is. I decided today I would share with you how I set up an easy space for the boys to watch all the wonderful things right outside our window. We are blessed to have a great sunroom off the back of the house that is full of windows.
Since the boys have been getting into learning about birds lately, I decided it would be fun to set up a bird watching station. I checked out several books from the Library, I did some research online to find free bird printables that I thought the boys would enjoy, and I laid out their feather collection.
I use to dream about looking out the window for school and being able to actually enjoy my surroundings. I feel truly blessed that I can do that for my boys. I can’t imagine anyone not wanting to do school like this.
If you are interested in getting more ideas on how to set up and start a nature study, I have a large Pinterest board on Nature Studies here.
Love this, Kimberly!
Love that big picture window behind your bird study area – perfect!
Thanks for linking up to TGIF! Hope to see you linked up again later today! Have a great weekend,
Beth =-)
This is such a great example of how a nature area does NOT have to be complicated to inspire. Choosing a subject, a few things to touch, and a nonfiction book inspire curiosity and research! Love it!
Thanks for your kind words 🙂
What a great idea! I need to do more activities like this during our homeschool day.
Thanks, we love nature studies, I bet my kids would skip everything else during the day if I let them 🙂
What a beautiful nature table! So peaceful. Love the photos!
Thank you Lisa, you’ve been a big help with everything 🙂

You don’t want to sail across the seas and set one up here for my guys, do you? They would LOVE this, especially my son!
Oh well, one step at a time, a nature study is a step in the right direction for us!!
I would love to come and do a nature study with you guys, maybe one day 🙂
