Have I told you how much I love books and kid spaces? I can’t help myself; I love having fun with kids’ spaces and changing a space or room to fit the needs of the children. I was all in when I heard about several bloggers getting together to create forts. What child doesn’t love forts? Whether cozy reading spaces or full outdoor play spaces, I knew my kids would love a reading fort.

When I think of starry night, I think of something outside. The fact is that it’s winter and freezing, so we are making a perfect starry night fort indoors and saving an outdoor idea for the spring.

This week with BFIAR (before five in a row) we rowed Goodnight Moon. A starry night reading fort was the perfect place to spend time cuddled up reading and enjoying small world play. We used playstands, a mattress, cozy blankets and pillows, our wonderful silk scapes, 3 strands of bright micro lights(these are the best) and a few of our favorite stuffed animals.

Imaginative Play ~ Great Books ~ Cozy Reading Fort ~ Snuggles

I think everyone should make a fort this week! This was such a wonderful and relaxing time with our starry night fort. The children took the reading and snuggling to the next level with the cozy feel of our sunroom. We can’t wait to try out another fun fort soon.

At the end of our Goodnight Moon week, when it was time to move on. I let the kids create their own fort and they couldn’t decide what was better rainbow, or starry sky, so they went with both. I think their design is perfect!

This is the lovely view from inside the fort. Isn’t it a sweet place to read?! It was magical, and the best part was that the kids created it all by themselves.
