Watermelon Volcano Baking Soda and Vinegar Science Experiment
For these fun watermelon science activities all you need is two to three simple kitchen ingredients.
and food color (if you want to have it colored – kids love the color)
Have your children add the baking soda to the bottom of your watermelon and let them go to town pouring their cups of vinegar into the watermelon. We like to add a wooden spoon or scooper to the table for the children to be able to enjoy mixing it afterward and continuing to explore what will happen as they play and add more of the ingredients.
Children can spend an hour playing like this and experimenting with their erupting watermelon.
