Montessori Under the Sea Preschool Activities

We started out by reading our Dolphin Storybook and then Bells was really excited to do the Fish Puzzle. I can’t even count how many times she and Little B worked on the fish puzzle this week. They both loved it!

Our Math activity for this theme is very similar to the Montessori shell game (if you are familiar with it). Counting cards with shells. This was a great activity because we talked about what the shells look like and how they feel (smooth, bumpy…). After that Bells enjoyed matching up her shells to the number on the card.

Matching cards is a favorite in this house. You can see a few other animals and themes Bells has enjoyed matching up at Preschool Farm Animals and Arctic and Antarctica Adventures. It is so wonderful talking about the animals and seeing how excited she gets while she learns and explores all of the activities.

Under the Sea Sensory Play

We love sensory play! This quickly turned into just enjoying the under the sea figures in the water. The great thing about homeschooling is you can easily adapt to fit your child.

Last year we had a blast with this fun under the sea Jello sensory play.

Talking about and learning sizes- We grew a sea star! It was such a sweet time to observe. Over the course of several hours, Bells would go back and see if it got bigger.

A wonderful hands on Science experiment for preschoolers.

The kids really enjoyed playing Sea Life Bingo. We used the picture cards and shells from the Brainy Kit. Games make learning fun at every age. I hope you get the chance to include great educational games as part of your preschool learning.
