Homemade Cranberry Sauce

Easy Homemade Cranberry Sauce for Thanksgiving and Christmas

Ingredients
  • 1 pound fresh or frozen cranberries 4 cups
  • 2 cups water
  • 2 cups sugar or sugar substitute
  • Optional: substitute 1 cup water for 1 cup orange juice
Instructions
  1. Rinse cranberries with water, and remove any stems or blemished berries.
  2. Heat water and sugar to boiling in 3-quart saucepan over medium heat, stirring occasionally.
  3. Continue boiling 5 minutes longer, stirring occasionally.
  4. Stir in cranberries. Heat to boiling over medium heat, stirring occasionally.
  5. Continue boiling about 5 minutes longer, occasionally stirring, until cranberries begin to break down to your desired consistency.
  6. Pour sauce into bowl or container. Refrigerate about 3 hours or until chilled.
Recipe Notes

Optional: substitute 1 cup water for 1 cup orange juice
