How to Make a Sweet and Simple Father’s Day Gift
Creating a DIY candy Father’s Day card is a fun and creative way to show appreciation for dads. Here are the materials needed to make the perfect card.
This picture below shows what you will need to make a Father’s Day Candy Tie. I have what’s needed displaying in list form towards the bottom of the page. You can use any of their favorite candies. Have Fun!
Candy
Candy is a crucial component of a Father’s Day candy card. Choose small-sized candy such as M&Ms, jelly beans, or Smarties. Other options include Take 5, whoppers, 100 Grand, butterfingers, extra gum, payday, York Pattie, orbit gum, milky way, mounds, almond joy, rolos, snickers, hot tamales, and Sour Patch. Pick a candy that the dad in question loves.
Cardstock or Construction Paper
Cardstock or construction paper is needed to create the base of the card. Choose a color that complements the candy or the dad’s favorite color.
Craft Instructions:
Cut a tie shape out of the paper. I made mine about 12” long. Have your child write a note on the back of the paper or draw a picture. This makes it extra special 🙂
You will need to outline pieces of the shape of the tie to glue on later. I just traced my original tie and cut the center out, only leaving about ½ “edges. You can cut these into 5 pieces to make it easier to glue on later.
Next, trace the tie onto the sheet protector and cut this out.
Glue the plastic piece onto the paper tie, but do not glue the top edge.
Now glue the edge pieces onto the tie. Every edge should have a piece to glue on. These will hide the glue under the transparent sheet protector.
Fill your tie with dad’s favorite candy, and glue the top edge shut. Your DIY Father’s Day Card is ready to go.
Write a Message
Write a message to your dad on the inside of the card. You can use a pre-made message or write your own. Be sure to include a heartfelt message that expresses your love and appreciation for your dad.
Making a DIY candy Father’s Day card is a great way to show your dad how much you care. It’s a fun and creative project that can be done in just a few simple steps. With some creativity and candy, you can create a one-of-a-kind card that your dad will cherish for years to come.
Daddy and Grandpa will love this sweet candy tie treat that was handmade.
