Preschool Daily Schedule Ideas

Plan your days for energetic preschoolers and make sure they know the plan so they will be able to focus better on their lessons and activities.

Preschool Math Activities

Use hands on learning activities for math by providing them with fun math activities. They can perform an activity like jumping, clapping or bouncing a ball enough times to represent the answers. Look for fun ways to do this that can work well with the preschool theme you are planning.

Preschool Alphabet Activities

Use fun ideas for alphabet activities and sight words by writing them with chalk or using salt trays. You can also incorporate crafts and games. You can do this with letters in the alphabet, sight words, or writing their name.

When planning your preschool lessons, plan plenty of time for movement breaks. This is the perfect time to have them dance, help clean up after an activity or simply get out and go to the park to run around. Free play is important to the development of young children and you can never go wrong by encouraging it.

Transitioning from one activity to another

Plan time and activities during transitions from one activity to the next.

for example:

  • Stomp like a dinosaur while moving to the next activity
  • play with musical instruments shaking tambourines, using bells, rainsticks, and even drums.
  • Look for fun ways to tie these activities into your overall lesson plan or use them to create a routine for children that thrive on a daily routine.

Transitions are much easier while having fun with them.

Reading with Preschoolers

When reading aloud offer your child an activity that will keep their hands or body busy. Include a story basket, hold a stuffed animal or item that goes with the book. Get reading tips and resources here.

Visual Schedule

Visual schedules work great for children because it shows them what they’re going to be doing for the day.

Visual Schedule Printables will help with Behavior Management too. Plus, if you are working with a child that has a short attention span visual schedules can be what your child needs to feel comfortable knowing what comes next. It also helps the rest of the family or classroom know what the daily routine is.

Daily Schedule for Kids

Do your best to avoid asking your toddlers and preschoolers to sit still for long periods of time. Usually, 15-20 minutes is an average of quiet table work or sitting working on one thing.

Plan plenty of hands on activities into your lesson plans to help them with learning and to focus better.

When you start to expect a preschooler to sit still for long periods of time you make it more difficult for yourself and the child.

When you embrace your child’s personality you open the doors for a lifetime of learning and them being excited about learning new things.
