Fill 3-4 small bowls with several spoonfuls of baking soda.
Place 3-6 drops of food coloring into each small bowl.
Use a spoon to thoroughly combine and mix together the coloring into the baking soda.
Place each color of baking soda into a layer in the baking dish or plastic tub.
Fill a condiment squirt bottle or spray bottle with distilled vinegar.
Place a few drops of dish soap into the bottle with the vinegar. Shake the bottle to combine well.
Pouring, fizzing, mixing, and swirlingย your rainbow makes for better fine motor skills and fun science experiments.
Squirt some of the vinegar mixtures over the colored baking soda in the dish or tub. The baking soda will begin to fizz and โeruptโ. Kids can enjoy squirting just a little at a time, or a lot all at once to cause a big reaction. Have fun swirling the colors together once the chemical reaction has finished.
