Shark Week Activities
Shark Slime Recipe
We’re always looking for new shark week activities in the house when it’s that time of year. There’s just something exciting and enticing about sharks that draw us in every time.
And even if you’re not a fan of Shark week, you can still use this easy slime recipe to create really cool Baby Shark book activities, too. We’ve read the book and made this shark slime as a great visual and option for working on fine motor skills.
What the kids love about it is that it’s a combination of slime and floam and it literally has the coolest texture, ever!
Book Activities
As I mentioned above, this slime recipe can be great for book activities as well. Anytime you read a book with your child and pair it up with a fun and creative craft, it’s just that much more learning that goes into their brain.
That’s a parenting win in my book!
Slime Recipe with Glue
What you will need to make your Shark Floam Slime is in this picture below. However, I have it displayed in a recipe list form to print out towards the bottom of the page. Have Fun!
How to Make Shark Slime
Supplies:
- 1 (5 oz.) bottle clear glue
- ½ cup of liquid starch
- ½ cup of warm water
- Blue foam balls
- Book: Baby Shark
- (other supplies: measuring cups, mixing bowl, mixing spoon, plastic mat, storage container)
Clear Slime Recipe
Start by pouring the entire contents of the glue into a mixing bowl. (My favorite mixing bowls that I use for cooking and crafts – I have two sets for each.
Next, just add in the water and stir.
Slowly add in the liquid starch and stir until you get slime consistency. (This is a great part for the kids to help with!)
Stir in at least a cup of foam balls. (You can add more, but I find that when I add too many, the balls like to bounce out of the slime when playing with it!)
Knead the slime with hands until you get desired consistency. (Another activity that the kids will love!)
Liquid Starch Slime
Place on a plastic mat for playtime. Add the sharks to the slime for pretend play.
It’s such a fun texture to play with!
Don’t forget to pair up with this Baby Shark Book for extra reading and learning fun!
