Pumpkin STEM – Reggio Provocation
This fun pumpkin STEM activity will help you to explore science, math, and engineering with your preschool and kindergarten learners this season. Many of the activities in this lesson plan are hands-on learning activities and this pumpkin stem activity is ideal for a Reggio Provocation.
Reggio Emilia believed, unlike Montessori, that a collaborative approach to learning was needed. He believed that children needed to be steered in the right direction as they learn through exploration. Reggio Provocations focus on provoking thoughts, ideas, and actions in the minds of the students.

These Math counting cards are such a delight to look at. The fall pictures make them so much fun to work with. We used mini pumpkin erasers, but you can also use clothespins, acorns, rocks, glass beads or whatever else you have.
Language – Beginning letter sound works
I’ve included these adorable Fall templates to be used with letter cards, wooden letters, or even alphabet fridge magnets. Each printable template card has 4 Fall themed images for children to practice identifying.
Then, kids can build phonemic awareness and letter recognition skills by choosing the correct letter to begin the word. For example, “S” is for scarecrow. This activity will help kids learn important early reading skills in a fun and engaging way this year.
These are just a few examples of the many activities you’ll receive with this wonderful Pumpkin Theme.
