What you will need to make these Paper Plate Fish Craft is in the picture below.
However, I have it displayed in list form towards the bottom of the page. Have Fun!
Have your child paint the bottom side of the paper plate and let it dry completely.
Cut out a triangle shape from the right side of the plate and glue it on the left side of the plate for the tail. The opening from the cutout will be the mouth. Next, Cut out two small fins from colored paper and glue one to each side of the plate. Then, glue on a googly eye.
Using the different colors of paper, trace about 1-1 ½ inch round circles. You will need 22-25 of these for the fish scales. I just used a small plastic sprinkle container for the circles, but you can use anything you have around the house.
You can also trace the circles for the kids and have them cut them out or use a circle punch if you have one. Cut the circles out and fold them in half.
Your child can use a Glue Stick to Rub glue on one side and sprinkle with glitter. *Glitter tip – we love glitter in this house; using smaller glitter bottles helps with the mess.

Starting in the middle of the plate, halfway from the mouth to the tail, you and your child will glue the fish scales in rows. The folded side will face the mouth. Overlap them just a bit, and put about 4-5 in each row.
You should have about six rows, with the last row near the tail and only having two scales in that row. Of course, we don’t have to be perfect, and every fish craft done by a child is a masterpiece.
*Another good tip if you are working with a group of younger children is to have a bunch of circles in different colors already cut out for them to use. Although they won’t be working on their scissors skills, the craft will flow smoothly as a group activity.
Let this adorable rainbow fish dry entirely after you glue on all the scales.
