How to Teach Telling Time – DIY Paper Clock Activity

How to Teach Telling Time DIY Paper Clock Activity, Use this learning clock to help teach your kids to tell time. It perfect for easy hands on Teaching Time Activities, Telling Time Activities and Fun Ways to Teach Time

After you’ve gathered your supplies, Cut one 8-inch circle out of the white paper and another 8-inch circle out of the green paper. You can also substitute by using two large white paper plates.

With the leftover green paper, cut about a 4-inch arrow that will represent the minute hand. With the black paper, cut about a 3-inch arrow that will represent the hour hand.

On the white part of the clock, write the hour hands going around with black marker. Very lightly, draw a smaller circle on the inside of the clock and draw lines in between each number. Cut on each line and erase the circle once you’ve finished.

Write hour and minute on each hand. Make sure the hour hand is black which matches the black marker and the minute hand is green which will match the green minutes. This will make it easier for kids to identify the hour and minute hand. Place a paper fastener at the end of the hands and through the middle of the white clock.

At this point, you can either write the minutes going around the green clock and then fasten with the white clock, or you can fasten the green clock with the white, then fold each hour hand back and write the minutes underneath.

By having the minutes underneath the hour hand, it’ll make it easier for the child to learn the minutes that represent each hour number. Set the minute and hour hand and have them read the time, then they can check the minutes to see if they were right.

12×12 White & Green paper and a small piece of Black paper
Paper Fasteners
Scissors
Black Marker

Directions
