Turkey Math for Kindergartners
Incorporating math into your turkey themed unit study is fun and easy! Your kindergartners can practice their counting skills and build number sense by making their own turkeys with playdough and craft feathers this November.
Here’s what you’ll need to create turkeys for counting:
Follow these steps:
- Let your kindergartners explore STEM learning by creating their own turkey (minus the feathers) from playdough or clay.
- Then, when the turkeys are complete, let your kindergartners roll a die to determine how many feathers to add. If your kindergartner rolls a 6, add 6 craft feathers to the clay turkey.
In the end, your little learners will have a really cute Thanksgiving turkey that’s one of a kind and a better understanding of numbers, counting, and one to one correspondence too. Plus, it makes a really cute Thanksgiving table centerpiece for your holiday meal!
