When there’s not significant schooling done during the summer season, children can end up suffering from summer slide. The term “summer slide” refers to the fact that many children lose some of their education during the summer season if they aren’t engaged.
It’s normal to have some summer slide, but if you’re looking for ways to prevent it from happening, then you can easily make your summer break fun by having your own summer camp at home.
Summer Theme Ideas
Have a week-long summer camp all about science. From making your volcanoes to sand slime and crystalized shells or rocks, there are so many things you can do to learn with science during a week-long science-themed summer camp adventure at home.
Have a week full of scavenger hunts that will help educate your kids on what lives in your community. From spotting birds to squirrels and frogs to having a scavenger list of types of mushrooms or leaves that kids can find. These scavenger hunts provide both outdoor exercise and education.
There are so many things you can do with Legos. Have a summer camp theme centered around Legos. From building to creating new things and perhaps invest in a few robotic Lego kits to help your kids learn how things work when put together. This will help with fine motor skills and STEM education.
